What To Expect

The Office

The office address is 5663 S Redwood Road, Suite 2, Taylorsville, UT 84123. It's the first building on the left as you enter into the building complex and is the suite on the right side of the building next to Molly Maid. The second to last picture shows the building. The door opens up to a lobby which is the last picture shown. If it is your first session, take a seat in the lobby and I'll come get you. The rest of the pictures are of my office.

Basic Information

Cost: I do not accept insurance and it's $150 a session. I do believe that healing is a human right so I am willing to work with you on a price if $150 is unaffordable for you. Just keep in mind that I'd rather not be homeless.

Format of Sessions: The goal of the first session is for us to get on the same page about what causes issues for you. Once we have that down it's time to get to work!

First Session: Coming with a list of what you want to work on will expedite the process and allow us to get you healing as quickly as possible. Additionally, I'd like you to complete the homework that is listed below before our first session.

Healing Methods: All of the methods I use are not within the parameters of traditional psychotherapy techniques nor are they regulated by them. The methods I use are chosen due to their effectiveness from personal experience and client experience and are constantly being refined and redeveloped.

Best Method for Healing: Everyone is different and different techniques work better for different people. We will start with what works best for most people and move on from there. If you don't like the technique we are using, let me know and we will change it up!

Timeline for Healing: The timeline for healing can vary depending on the individual. Most clients are able to work through one or more treatment goals simultaneously in about two to six sessions if not fewer. The more distressed a person is starting out, generally the longer the healing process takes.

After the Session: Some people feel amazing throughout the whole healing process and some people don't. Fatigue or fluctuating emotions are common side effects from a session. For some clients, things may get worse before they get better. Some clients temporarily worsen in their symptoms after the first session or two. The more a person has repressed their fears or swept them under the rug, the more likely things will feel worse at first. Feeling worse doesn't mean healing isn't occurring, it actually means the opposite. For people in this category, shining a light on what they've kept in the dark is not a pleasurable experience, but it is necessary one for healing to be possible. Just like a broken bone doesn't get reset without pain, nor does one's fears. Come into sessions trusting that it will get better, even if it isn't easy.

Teaching Competency: We will get you started healing yourself without my guidance as soon as you feel comfortable. These techniques are not difficult and anyone can learn to do them. The end goal is always self-sufficiency.

Completing Treatment: Treatment will be complete when you feel stable, at peace, and happy with your life. If you aren't there yet, you aren't ready to be done. It's common for clients to end before they get to actual stability, a mistake that basically guarantees the remaining issues will resurface at some point. Might as well take care of all of them so that you can live the best life possible. Additionally, working through all your goals doesn't mean you're done healing, it just means that you've established a solid foundation. Keep healing yourself as things come up.

Informed Consent: All clients are required to sign my informed consent form which can be viewed here.

New Client Homework

All of my new clients should watch these three videos before our first session, or at least the first one. These are the most impactful videos I've found to date and any of them on their own may change the way you think about healing. Watching these will not be enforced, but it is a good indicator of your commitment to your own healing. If you don't put in the time to heal yourself, you will never heal. You may also consider these videos a second interview of sorts for you to know whether or not I'm the right person for you. All of these videos blew my mind despite considering myself pretty informed on healing. I highly recommend watching them all the way through, there were many times I was tempted to say "I've learned all I can from this" and turn them off, but they kept surprising me, and I learned a lot as a result. The first video is on how to statistically improve your happiness from between 5-15% which may not seem like much but it's changing from a 6/10 of how happy you are to 7.5/10, a difference worthy of effort in my opinion, the second video is on finding purpose and love which is far more insightful than it sounds, and the third is on the neuroscience of how to change negative thoughts. All of them are paradigm shifting videos.
